Istancool

Woohoo...another cool fashion celebration was held in Istanbul this past weekend, starting from Friday July 2-4'10. Gareth Pugh, Kim Jones, Jefferson Hack, and Philip Treacy were among the invitees. Being Turkey's largest city that's rich of cultural heritage, the festival was a concoction of art, design, fashion, literature, film and music.

It was a forum for the British, Turkish and International artists to mingle. You can click: http://www.liberatum.org.uk/istancool.php to get more info...

Sydney Fashion Week: Dion Lee the Fashion Star

When: May 3-7 2010

The rising fashion star came to the rescue at the past fashion week with his strong tailoring and attention to details. Inspired by “the tension between something controlled and something subconscious”, his new collection showed a softer approach with drapes, pleats and prints.

Intrigued by the word “Circassian Beauties” and their afro-like hair style on an article I read at Vogue.com, it led me to searching what it was. Women from the western side of Caucasus mountain region, it was suggested that they were “the purest example of the white race”. I was quite surprised to see how big their hair was, something that the majority of us now would associate it with black authenticity. This phenomenon shows how connected we are as a human being, that we’re not separated from one another. Now being an asian descent, I wonder if I can find pictures of Asians with big hair..Due to my limited resources, these are the closest I could find. In the end of the day it's fascinating to realize that we are all interconnecting from one another regardless…
